In english class I was assigned a paper on what I was striving toward at this point in my life, and then relate our story to the Odyssey(the poem). He tried to give us ideas such as being a better person or making straight A's, but I wasn't exactly about to settle for just that . . . . . . . . . . .
Striving
I'm fighting against the enemy as Odysseus did,
except I'm fighting for the world, and not against it.
Constantly everywhere I turn there is opposition,
but when it isn't there, something feels wrong.
There are those set out to destroy me, like Poseidon was,
but I'm in full armor and ready to fight.
I'm on my journey home across the vast Sea,
but my path is lit, so I never lose sight of my destination.
I'm returning home to re-unite with my Father.
And when I reach home, I will not look t take over the kingdom,
but rather give up the Honor and Glory to The One who created me.
